How to Remove Subscribers from a Telegram Channel

Русский

Remove a Telegram channel subscriber through your channel's audience-management controls. Open the subscriber list using the owner account or an administrator account with the required rights, find the profile, select removal and confirm. Then check current membership and whether rejoining is blocked.

This guide covers individual accounts, limitations involving bots and deleted profiles, and result verification. Commands and menu locations differ between Telegram versions on phones and computers.

Who can remove Telegram channel subscribers?

The channel owner can manage membership and remove subscribers. For administrators, the assigned permissions matter: being able to publish messages does not imply every audience-management right.

Telegram separately defines permission to ban users in its administrator-rights documentation. The owner's general capabilities appear in the Channels FAQ.

Before starting, check that:

  • You opened the channel whose membership you intend to change.
  • The correct Telegram account is active, especially if several are connected.
  • The subscriber list and removal action are available for the chosen account.

If the section is unavailable, check access with the owner first. A public channel address provides access to posts, not administrator rights.

How to remove a subscriber from a Telegram channel

Work with a specific profile. Before confirming removal, establish that it is the account you intended to remove.

1. Open your channel's information

Open the channel and select its name or image at the top to open its information. If management is in a separate editing menu, open that menu.

Check the name and address. With similar names, take particular care not to open another channel or the linked discussion group.

2. Open the subscriber list

Find the available subscribers or members section. You need current membership; administrators, join requests and removed users describe other states.

If the list is missing or incomplete, start with How to See Telegram Channel Subscribers. The total counter cannot replace finding a specific account.

3. Find and verify the profile

Use the list's available search. Compare the profile with the intended account using the name, username if present and other accessible information.

Two people with the same display name are not the same user. Having no username does not prove an account is fake. If the match is uncertain, clarify the profile before removing it.

4. Open the removal action

Select the remove-from-channel action on the subscriber's row or menu. Depending on the client, the menu may open by selecting the row, using an extra button or opening a desktop context menu.

Check what the command actually does. Removing a subscriber, removing administrator rights and blocking someone in personal messages are different actions.

5. Confirm removal

Read Telegram's confirmation and perform the action for the selected account. If Telegram reports missing permissions, return to the owner; repeating the command does not grant access.

Start with one verified profile so you can inspect the result and catch a selection mistake before processing others.

6. Check membership and the ability to return

Refresh the current list and search again. Then check the available removed or banned users section. Telegram's API provides a separate filter for kicked participants.

If a joining ban remains, a new invitation alone is insufficient. If the person should be allowed back, remove the relevant ban and check the invitation separately. Lifting a ban does not automatically restore membership.

What changes after removing a subscriber?

Distinguish membership from permission to join again. Removing someone from the current audience and later lifting a ban are separate actions.

Action What to verify What it does not establish
Remove a channel subscriber Current membership and the applied ban Deletion of the person's Telegram account
Lift a channel ban Whether joining again is allowed Automatic resubscription
Block in private messaging Communication settings for your account Confirmed removal from the channel
Remove from the discussion group That group's membership and restrictions Confirmed removal from the channel
Remove administrator rights Current administrative permissions Confirmed departure from subscribers

How to allow a removed subscriber to rejoin

Find the account in the channel's available removed or banned users section and lift the ban. The person can then join through a method available to them. A private channel requires a valid invitation under its admission settings.

Telegram's official banChatMember and unbanChatMember documentation makes the distinction: lifting a ban permits a new join but does not perform it for the user. The interface command name depends on the client.

Why the channel and discussion group need separate checks

A comment below a post can belong to the linked discussion group. If the goal is stopping comment violations, check actions and restrictions in that group. If the goal is removing a channel subscriber, use the channel's list.

After acting in one place, separately verify the other if it also matters. One disappeared comment cannot confirm both outcomes.

How to remove bots and unwanted accounts

First clarify what you mean by a bot. A Telegram bot created through BotFather, a suspicious user profile and a deleted account are different cases.

An actual Telegram bot

Find the bot among accounts connected to channel management and check its role. If it is no longer needed, revoke its rights and separately check whether it remains in the channel. Removing administrator status alone does not confirm removal from membership.

If the bot published content or supported a workflow, decide who will perform that work afterward. The word “bot” in a regular user's name does not establish the account type.

User accounts described as bots

For a particular unwanted user profile, follow the same removal process. Tie the decision to a verified account and reason, such as a confirmed rule violation in your linked group.

A blank photo, missing username, few reactions or silence in comments cannot precisely identify every bot in a channel. Do not remove an entire category of users based on one outward trait.

See Real Telegram Subscribers for audience-quality evidence and the difference between account existence and topic interest.

How to remove deleted accounts from Telegram subscribers

Distinguish a profile labeled Deleted Account from an active user without a photo. A blank avatar does not confirm account deletion.

In a Telegram explanation published in 2020, deleted accounts are described as disappearing automatically from member lists after a delay. Check your own channel's actual list updates; that historical answer does not specify when a particular row will disappear.

If the row remains, refresh the list and check the action available for that profile. If it fails, record the error and app version. The channels.editBanned documentation includes an INPUT_USER_DEACTIVATED error for deleted users, so removal through an ordinary command cannot be promised for every such row.

Do not substitute removal of all less-active readers for investigating a deactivated profile. It would change the audience without explaining the remaining row.

How to verify a channel cleanup

Before removal, record the time, overall counter and accounts you intend to manage. After each confirmed action, record the outcome. This lets you compare a later decline with your own actions.

Why the overall counter does not equal removals

Other people can join and leave while you change membership. The difference between two overall readings therefore does not automatically equal administrator removals.

This hypothetical example explains the calculation; it is not a SMMESE customer's result. Assume these changes were confirmed separately during one period:

Event Subscriber count or change Evidence
Start of period 1,000 Recorded opening counter
Administrator removals −40 Confirmed actions on selected accounts
New joins +15 Separately recorded joins
Voluntary departures −5 Separately confirmed departures
End of period 970 Result under the listed conditions

Calculation: 1,000 − 40 + 15 − 5 = 970. The overall count fell by 30, although the administrator removed 40 accounts. Without join and departure records, the final figure of 970 cannot reconstruct those separate quantities.

See Why Telegram Subscribers Leave for other causes of audience decline and verification steps.

Why the views percentage can rise without more views

Keep a post's view count at 300 in the same example. Before membership changes:

300 / 1,000 × 100 = 30%.

Afterward:

300 / 970 × 100 ≈ 30.9%.

The percentage rose because the subscriber denominator became smaller. The post still has 300 views. The ratio also does not show the exact share of subscribers who read: Telegram's view-counter FAQ explains that forwarded-copy views are included and numbers are approximate.

Assess reach by comparing similar publications at equal ages. See Telegram Channel Statistics. Track views and membership changes separately.

If you later plan to add new accounts, review regular and Premium options in the SMMESE subscriber service. That order is a separate decision and does not lift a Telegram ban.

Removing Telegram subscribers FAQ

Can I remove all subscribers at once?

Processing many accounts requires separate checks of the list, access and consequences. The official channels.editBanned API describes an action on one selected participant. That capability does not prove there is a universal “remove everyone” button or error-free bulk cleanup.

Before processing the whole audience, define who needs removal and why. Removing individual unwanted profiles does not require deleting the channel and its content.

Can I remove only inactive subscribers?

You first need a verifiable inactivity criterion. No comments or reactions does not establish whether a particular person read posts. An overall view counter cannot produce an exact list of non-readers.

If data for that selection is unavailable, separate confirmed violations from assumptions about interest. Bulk removal based on assumptions may affect readers you wanted to keep.

Can I remove subscribers from someone else's channel?

A public address or your own subscription does not grant membership-management access. You need rights in that channel. If assisting the owner, agree on the specific actions and required access first.

Why is the remove button missing or the command failing?

Check the active account, permissions and section: the channel, discussion group and administrator list serve different purposes. Then check whether the profile is active and read Telegram's error message.

If the reason remains unclear, record the app version, section and exact message. That is more useful than repeatedly trying the command or inferring the cause from one overall counter change.
